According to the Saskatchewan Curriculum, there are 12 Foundation Objectives to the Theatre Arts Course. They are:
1. To
recognize and appreciate the collaborative process involved in a theatre
production.
2. To
understand and apply the fundamentals of theatre and theatre productions.
3. To
participate in and appreciate the importance of the planning phase of a theatre
production.
4. To
appreciate the importance of clear communication in theatre production.
5. To
develop the artistic abilities and technical skills required in a theatre production.
6. To
experience the enjoyment and fulfillment derived from interacting with others
and from the creative process of working on a production.
7. To
take responsibility for specific tasks in planning for and production of
theatre.
8. To
practise both good leadership and good “followership” skills.
9. To
access and use community and other resources.
10. To
identify and practise safety precautions and procedures.
11. To
understand the roles and responsibilities of production personnel.
12. To be
aware of career and employment opportunities related to theatre.
